Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting” Psalm 139: 23-24 (NIV)

In the programme management office, we carry out project audits. The essence of the audit is to ensure the projects and all the associated documentation, processes and essential health KPIs are on track, if not you help the project manager bring it back on track and coach the project manager to develop and plug any skills gap. This exercise is usually misinterpreted as a litmus test of the project manager’s capability and competency which may lead to discipline or negative performance reporting. For this reason, many project managers dread project audits. In same spirit, we believers don’t like to search within ourselves in case we don’t like what we find. It is essential for us to search within ourselves and glorify God for the good qualities we have and recognise the areas that need improvement and give it to God.

“Then David’s question was reported to King Saul, and the king sent for him.” 1 Samuel 17:31 (NLT)

In these verses David had been asking what the reward was for killing Goliath. It had been said that the king was offering his daughter as a reward and no taxes for the man’s family who kills Goliath.

The fact that David’s questions had been passed onto the king and he was sent for, shows that David is the only person who was brave enough to even show interest.

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Colossians 3: 12-14 (NLT)

It was one of the beautiful evenings that I remembered from our marriage counselling sessions. The wife telephoned and just said she needed to talk because she has reached the end of the road there is no point talking her out of divorce. It was a long day at work and we were tired, but when someone needs your support, you must give, so we asked them to come over. They arrived about 8:00pm and as they walked through the door I felt the tension, and they made the hatred for one another very tangible, you can almost touch it.
