“Who so offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God.” Psalm 50:23 KJVS

I was speaking to my mum this morning. As usual she had woken me up early on Saturday morning to tell me about the joy of her experience with God in the night and very early hours of the morning. She shared her testimony with me, how over the last two months she had been struggling to remember the word of God she had stored in her heart, the scriptures she had memorised, and which rolls off her lips effortlessly in all conversations. She was missing it so much in her conversations and kept praying asking God for His help. As she prayed last night, she felt a release inside of her and all the scriptures (chapter and verse) all came rolling out of her mouth. Her joy was palpable as she talked effortlessly for over one hour with me, scripture after scripture, revelation after revelation, exalting her God! Pure joy!

David said it this way when he said, “I will meditate on Your precepts and have respect to Your ways [the paths of life marked out by Your law]. I will delight myself in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word. Psalm 119:15-16 AMPC” I cannot emphasise the importance of God’s word continually in your mouth. It is the way to salvation. In challenging times, there are so many things you can say. You can talk about the situation, the context and your experience or you can make the choice to intentionally speak what Gods word says. Some people think this is denying the situation. But it is not because the reason you are saying what God says in that situation is because you recognise what is happening but know that your salvation, your deliverance and your breakthrough is tied to your words.

Order your conversation aright! I like the translation that says conversation, but others also say conduct, course of life and moral character. Our character, conduct and course of life is seen through the words we speak. James 3:2 said, “For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body.” The message version says, “If you could find someone whose speech was perfectly true, you’d have a perfect person, in perfect control of life.”

Recently I was believing God for healing. I could see what the enemy was trying to do, and I immediately resisted it praying in agreement with my husband and recording the day and time (23.07 on the 13th October) I believed I received my healing according to Mark 11:23-24. From then on, the only words I intentionally meditated on, thought about and spoke was the word of God concerning my healing. I was not in denial; I was in the word, and I chose the word because of what was happening. The word works! I can testify that I am completely healed and one of the scriptures the Holy Spirit reminded me off during this time was in Proverbs 4:20-22 which says, “My son, attend to my words; consent and submit to my sayings. Let them not depart from your sight; keep them in the centre of your heart. For they are life to those who find them, healing and health to all their flesh.”

So let your conversation with yourself and others intentionally be Gods word!
