So that in the coming ages He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not of yourselves. It is the gift of God. Ephesians 2:7-8 Modern English Version (MEV)

There are a number of definitions for God’s grace that I agree with but the one that stuck with me and which I love the most is ‘God’s ability and willingness to do for us so much more than we deserve.’ As I read Ephesians 2: 4-9, all I see is how magnificently God shows us the richness of His mercy, the greatness of His love and the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness towards us in Christ Jesus.

I want you to know that God is incredibly awesome, good and kind. He has not changed. James 1:17 says, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no change or shadow of turning.” There is no change in God, He is who He is and He will do what He always does for you everyday. The devil will try to create doubt in your mind about Gods goodness in your life. It is a lie, there is no truth in him, he is the father of lies (John 8:44). So you need to believe, declare boldly and expect to see God’s kindness, God’s rich mercy and God’s surpassing grace in your life, your family and in everything that concerns you. Be determined to never believe or accept the lies of the devil. God is good and He is rich in mercy, love and grace towards you.

It was the unsearchable depth of His rich mercy and great love for us that made us alive with Christ today. It was the incredible power of His rich mercy and great love that extended His grace to us. It was His incomparable rich mercy and great love that raised us up from low down in the pit to sitting in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus. He demonstrated this rich mercy and great love to us when He did not have to and when we gave Him no reason to. So how much more now that we are completely His, sons and daughters of our Heavenly Father.

Surpassing riches of His grace! Surpassing is a word that can only be used in relation to God because nothing surpasses or exceeds God. God’s grace is over and beyond anything and everything. The bible says in Ephesians 2:8 that you are saved by this grace through faith. You are saved means you are delivered, you are protected, you are healed, you are preserved, you do well and you are made whole. It means you are saved from every work of the devil, from every disease and sickness, and from danger or destruction.

 

You cannot save yourself. You are saved because this grace has been given to you by God as a gift. Receive it! You are saved because God has already given you the measure of faith according to Romans 12:3. You are saved, delivered, protected, healed and made whole because you have this surpassing grace and faith given to you already by God. So shout out loud today and everyday: I am saved, I am delivered, I am healed, I am made whole, I am protected and I do well because of God’s surpassing grace through faith in my life. Amen
