“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:” Deuteronomy 30:19 KJVS
I was pondering on the power of the choices we make intentionally and those we make unintentionally by not making a choice. I will give you an example to illustrate. In thinking about a healthy lifestyle, a person who chooses to have a healthy lifestyle will most likely be intentional about regular exercise, their diet, medical check-ups and maybe daily vitamins. They do this not necessarily because they are unwell but because they know these activities promote daily healthy living and long life. On the other hand, another person may not do anything. Now this person who does nothing may not have intentionally chosen an unhealthy lifestyle (I don’t think most people will, given the choice) however their inactivity in some ways is pointing in that direction.
I say this because I believe that as Christians, we should intentionally choose divine health, choose life, choose to be well and to maintain a state of wellness physically and spiritually that gives us a good chance to fight off any sickness or disease that may try to attack us. Healing starts from the inside and intentionally choosing divine health means godliness (doing godly exercises), it means a spiritual diet of the word of God daily, it means meditating on scriptures that promise you healing and declaring them over your life and it means breaking bread regularly. 1 Timothy 4:8 says, “For physical training is of some value, but godliness (spiritual training) is of value in everything and in every way, since it holds promise for the present life and for the life to come.”
In addition, Proverbs 3:1-2 says, “My son, do not forget my teaching, But let your heart keep my commandments; For length of days and years of life [worth living] And tranquillity and prosperity [the wholeness of life’s blessings] they will add to you.” Over and over in scripture we are encouraged to keep doing the things we know are right by God as they hold a reward. Humans are prone to forget things, the way we remember and develop good godly habits is by repetition and consistency. Make a choice for divine health today and be intentional about that choice by your actions, it will add to your life length of days, years of life worth living, tranquillity and prosperity.
Someone said, ‘even choosing to do nothing is still making a choice.’ If you don’t choose something, you may unintentionally be making a different choice.
Prayer: Heavenly Father we submit ourselves completely to you thanking you that in creating us you also gave us the privilege of making choices. Our prayer today is that we will always make choices that draw your will and purpose into our lives. Help us to be more intentional about the choices we make and give us the power to diligently follow them through. Today we choose life, we choose divine health and we choose your word in Jesus Name.
3 John 1:2 KJVS – Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
