For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart – Hebrews 4:12 Amp

I don’t know about you but as I read Hebrews 4:12, I couldn’t but wonder how powerful, alive and active the word of God is. I do not know of any other thing on earth that penetrates as far and as deep as the word of God, exposing and judging all the very thoughts and intentions of the heart even before it has been executed. I read this verse and I was in absolute awe of the word of God that we are so privileged to have so readily in our hands and in our lives.

However this verse starts with a ‘For’ because the earlier verses highlight that despite the inherent power of the word, it did not profit those who heard it then because of their unbelief, not mixing the word of God they had heard with faith. Faith is all about believing God and believing His word over and above what we see, think, feel, hear and touch. It is believing the word of God so much that we do whatever He tells us to do because it is God and we know that His word is truth and life.

The bible is the word of God. Paul writing to Timothy said, “all scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16).” So, I want to encourage you today, that as you continually hear the word of God, mix it with faith and it will become profitable to you because it is alive and full of power. That word power is also the word effective which means to produce the desired or intended result.

The word of God in itself is profitable, advantageous and productive. It is full of power waiting to be released by your faith. Jesus describes this faith in Mark 11:22-24 as believing in our hearts (the word of God) and saying (the word of God) with our mouth. This is how you mix the word with faith, you believe it in your heart and you confess it with your mouth. This is the spirit of faith referred to in 2 Cor 4;13 which says, “And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,”we also believe and therefore speak.”

So be determined to mix the word with faith and you will experience its power in your life everyday.
