Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. John 14:12 (NKJV)

God is a God of First Times! As you read through the bible you will see some things that when they happened it was the first time ever. When Abraham and Sarah had Isaac, it was the first time such a thing had happened when you consider their ages and the barrenness of Sarah’s womb. When Moses stretched out the rod to part the red sea, it was the first time such a thing had ever happened in history. When the children of Israel received manna from heaven for food, that was definitely the first time. God is a God of first times and He is not limited only to things He has done before in your life or in the life of somebody you know. As long as you have the word of God you can believe God for the extraordinary, the things that are impossible for men, the exceedingly abundantly above and greater works.

I say this because we sometimes struggle to see or understand how God is going to do something for us because we don’t know anyone for whom it has been done. Our minds tell us how will this happen because there is nothing physical our senses can hold onto. But the word of God is the assurance of things hoped for and once you have the word you can believe God for what has never been done before according to His word. I want to assure you today not to look at men or laws of nature  in order to understand God or His ways, but to always look at God and His word. As long as He has promised it to you, He is able to perform it through the awesome and mighty power of the Holy Spirit that is on the inside of you. Jesus said to the person that believes in Him – ‘you will do the works that I did and greater works than I did will you do because I go to the Father.’

You see, when Jesus was raised up from the dead, the father sent us the Holy Spirit, our Helper, to dwell with us and to be in us (John 14:17). The reason you and I can do things never done before, greater works, is because of the Power of the Holy Spirit that is in us, so much more greater than anything in this world. Ephesians 3:20 says, “Never doubt God’s mighty power to work in you and accomplish all this. He will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your most unbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination! He will outdo them all, for his miraculous power constantly energises you.”

I know we learn so much from things past, they are written for our learning, instructions and as examples to us on our faith work today. However, we should also build our faith up for things never done before, because God wants to use us to do some mighty works in our time. I believe that with the power of God on the inside of us, God is asking us not to limit Him and believe Him for things never done before! I am certain that with God there can be a first time for anything by faith! You can be the one God uses and then everyone will see His power on display. Believe God, Believe in Jesus, Believe the word of God and Believe in the awesome power of the Holy Spirit that is in you!

My confession: I take every good thing that God has done for me since the foundation of the world till today with gratitude and I stretch my faith to believe God for things never done before by the power of His Holy Spirit that dwells on the inside of me.
